CARE GUIDE

Understanding how to care for your precious ADC Online engagement ring and jewellery makes a world of difference in maintaining their optimum condition. We understand jewellery lives with you through a range of activities and conditions. To preserve the brilliance and longevity of your ADC Online pieces, we recommend the following:

Inspections

Your ADC Online jewellery is designed to be worn and enjoyed. The rigours of everyday life can place strain on settings and other areas of your jewellery. Inspections play an important part in the overall maintenance of your jewellery and can often avoid costly incidents such as stones falling out of your piece. During an inspection, ADC Online diamond specialists conduct thorough assessments with specialised tools to ensure all stones are securely set and in optimum condition. As this service is complimentary with every ADC Online purchase, we welcome you to visit our showroom for scheduled maintenance every 8 months.

Warranty

Our comprehensive warranty provides peace of mind and confidence with every ADC Online purchase. Every ADC Online piece has been meticulously crafted to the highest quality standards, which is why we offer a lifetime warranty against manufacturing faults or defects. ADC Online applies its lifetime warranty on pieces that are maintained in accordance with our scheduled maintenance intervals of 8 months.

Diamond Care

Diamonds are one of the strongest materials known to man. This fact leads to the assumption diamonds are indestructible. The truth is, with enough force, the structure of a diamond can be impacted, resulting in fractures or chips. By protecting your diamonds from heavy impact, you will preserve the condition of your diamonds.

White Gold Care

It’s important to note that there is no such thing as natural white gold; all gold appears yellow when mined. To create white gold for jewellery purposes, raw gold is combined with alloys to give it colour and strength. To achieve a bright white and consistent finish, a fine layer of liquid gold is applied using a process called electro rhodium plating. Over time, with enough exposure to external elements (such as lotions, perfumes, chemicals, alcohol rub, dead skin cells, dirt, and rough surfaces) rhodium plating will wear to expose the base colour of gold. This colour can have a yellowish appearance. The rhodium plating on your ADC white gold pieces can be re-applied to restore its original condition. The time that lapses between rhodium plating depends on how the piece is worn. Pieces that frequently encounter the aforementioned elements will require rhodium plating more frequently than those with less exposure to these elements. To prolong the life of your rhodium plating, you may choose to remove your pieces to avoid contact with harmful elements. Caring for white gold requires regular cleaning, inspections and polishing to keep pieces in optimum condition. Should you wish to have your ADC pieces rhodium-plated, you may schedule a maintenance appointment to discuss the cost and timeframe of the services specific to your white gold pieces.

Platinum Care

Platinum is a hard metal, making it the ideal choice for precious jewellery. Platinum used in ADC jewellery is comprised of 95% platinum and 5% alloys. Unlike 18ct white gold, platinum is naturally white in appearance so it does not require rhodium plating to achieve its finish. This means caring for platinum requires regular cleaning, inspections and polishing. Impact damage sustained to platinum should be assessed by an ADC jeweller to ensure the optimum condition and security of stone settings.

General Care

ADC jewellery can be cleaned in the comfort and convenience of our showroom as a complimentary service valid for the lifetime of your piece. To maintain your pieces in-between visits to the showroom, you may choose to clean your ADC pieces by submerging them into a solution of warm water and detergent-free dish soap. Taking a soft toothbrush to intricate setting areas and precious stones will relieve dirt build-up from your jewellery, keeping stones and settings safe. If you notice your pieces are showing signs of wear, please visit the ADC showroom to have them inspected and cleaned as a complimentary service and to discuss the maintenance services available to you. It is vital to avoid impact damage to your ADC pieces to prevent scratches, dents, loss of stones and chips to precious stones. By removing jewellery prior to performing manual tasks (household duties, gardening, high contact sports, activities at the gym, manual labour), the risk of your pieces sustaining impact damage is minimised.

Jewellery Storage

If you have multiple precious pieces, it is recommended to store them in a jewellery box designed specially to hold multiple pieces. It is important to store chains and necklaces flat and separate from one another to avoid knots and tangling. Precious stones should be stored upright and away from other stones and metals to avoid impact damage.
